The New York State Office of Victim Services and the CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance present:
Best Practices in Using Staff Lived Experience for Trauma Treatment and Engagement with Justice-Involved Populations
The Exodus Center for Trauma Innovation (ECTI) is a one-of-a-kind healing and training space which aims to promote healing and resilience in underserved communities by helping to interrupt cycles of violence and provide crucial resources. During this webinar, the ECTI will present on Best Practices in Using Staff Lived Experience for Trauma Treatment and Engagement with Justice-Involved Populations. An essential healing component to consider, as victims of crime transition into being survivors, is to develop an understanding of how one physically, behaviorally, emotionally, and psychologically responds to trauma. The ECTI uses a person-centered approach to help as service participants walk this journey. This ECTI Webinar will assist attendees in understanding practical uses of staff lived experience during engagement with participants; trauma-informed approaches to assessing for trauma; practical approaches to psychoeducation; and operating as a trauma-informed practitioner.
