SPECIALIZED TRAINING: Coping with Grief in Traumatic Loss

In partnership with the Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz (IDMH), Coping with Grief in Traumatic Loss: Theoretical Perspectives and Interventive Strategies is a 2-session virtual training (January 20 & 27, 2021) led by Dr. Kenneth Doka, Professor Emeritus at The College of New Rochelle and Senior Consultant to the Hospice Foundation of America.

This program is open to licensed NYS Mental Health Providers and/or current clinical program graduate students from OVS-funded organizations and will explore the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and will review of basic grief concepts and research on grief interventions. Sessions are free of charge and Social Work and Licensed Mental Health Counselor Continuing Education (CE) hours will be provided to those who meet eligible criteria.

This program is presented by the New York State Office of Victim Services in collaboration with the Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz (IDMH). CE hours are available through a partnership with University at Albany School of Social Welfare and School of Education.
