Dating abuse can take many forms, from controlling behavior to physical violence. While February focuses on raising awareness of the issue among teens and young adults, dating abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of age, socioeconomic status, education or race.
One in four teens who have been in a serious relationship say their boyfriend or girlfriend has tried to prevent them from spending time with friends or family and have been pressured to only spend time with their partner.
Also, 80 percent of teens say they know someone who has been controlled by a partner, and 60 percent know someone who has been physically abused.
