Governor Cuomo has proclaimed April 19-25 Crime Victims’ Rights Week in New York State.

Governor Cuomo has proclaimed April 19-25 Crime Victims’ Rights Week in New York State. These year’s theme is “Engaging Communities/Empowering Victims”,  and the state Office of Victim Services is doing just that.

OVS is rolling out a new Victim Service Portal across the state which will allow victim assistance providers and eventually victims themselves to fill out claim applications online and submit them instead of filling out paper claim forms and mailing them in. The Portal will make the process quicker and more efficient not only for victims but for the staff that processes claims, meaning that innocent victims of crime will be able to receive the compensation they need sooner than before.
