$330 Million Available to Fund Programs and Services that Assist Victims of Crime and their Families
Today, OVS announced the availability of $330 million over three years to fund programs and services that assist victims of crime and their families across New York State. Any nonprofit organization, hospital, law enforcement agency, coalition, or other entity that meets the application requirements can seek funding to offer services such as crisis- and long-term counseling, support groups, civil legal assistance, emergency or transitional housing, and safety planning, among other assistance.
The deadline for applications is 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022. All applications must be submitted online using the Consolidated Funding Application and late applications will not be accepted.
Grants are slated to be awarded by the Office of Victim Services sometime this summer, with contracts between the agency and successful grantees beginning Oct. 1, 2022. Funding will be provided through Sept. 30, 2025, and OVS has the option to renew funding for another two years depending on the availability of funds. Funding is available through the federal Victims of Crime Act, which supports victim compensation and victim assistance programs in each state.
